The IVA Elevate 2023 conference was specially curated to empower veterinary practice owners and managers with actionable strategies and insights for todays challenges. Over three days at the beautiful SkyCity in Adelaide, conference speakers took delegates on a dive deep into the latest trends, innovative ideas, and practical tools that will shape the future of their independent veterinary practices.

Attended by practice owners, managers, key industry representatives and topic experts, day 1 kicked off with a broad view on the veterinary industry now.  Vet Family COO Michael Thunell shared key insights from a global perspective regarding the trends affecting independent veterinary practices. We heard from forward thinkers like Ivan Zac, who shared advancements and strategies adopted by large corporates and early adopters in the industry. Peter Munkton from BOQ Specialist discussed the current economic scenario in Australia and its implications for veterinary practices and practice owner Shibly Mustapha addressed the importance of mindset. In the afternoon, IVA’s valued partners shared their latest updates with delegates during IVA’s highly regarded speed dating session.

On Day 2, delegates started uncovering opportunities within their practices to create profit. Gerardo Poli from Vet Success Academy guided us in identifying and leveraging existing opportunities for profit maximization. Shabeena Hussen from People and Culture Connected shed light on improving engagement and culture within the practice for a better work environment and client satisfaction. Tania Gover from Crampton Consulting Group delved into strategies for improving practice efficiency and productivity. Finally, Laine Brown from also from Vet Success Academy, emphasized the power of Google reviews as a cost-effective marketing tool, and explained how clinics can align practice communications to enhance the client experience.

With key topics covered such as the economic environment, people, marketing, practice efficiency and profitability, the final day was all about creating a solid strategy to implement. During day 3 delegates embraced peer-to-peer sessions and learned from each other’s experiences on the core topics relevant to today’s veterinary practices. Taleta Hompas from Vet Success Academy helped practices refine their strategic plans, breaking down long-term objectives into actionable short-term goals. Delegates translated strategic objectives into impactful initiatives, focusing on structuring effective meetings for successful execution.

Throughout the conference, independent practice delegates gained insights into global and local trends, importance of strategic planning, operational efficiency, engagement and culture, marketing and client experience, and execution strategies.
